Groom Sherwani

Sherwani is a traditional wedding outfit which signifies elegance and style. It was worn by the kings and hence it is considered a regal and ethnic. Groom’s have been wearing it since years. It is a popular outfit among every Indian groom getting married.

What makes sherwani’s so popular is the scope that it provides for embroidery. Traditionally sherwanis used to be made from silk or poly-silk but as time progressed many new fabrics are used.

Groom dressed in a sherwani looks like a royal prince. It is basically a long-fitting jacket like garment which is of knee length and has a slit in front with buttons. It consists of a Nehru collar that gives it an ethnic look. The sherwani is accompanied with a tight fitting churidar and a long shawl draped on one or both sides of the shoulder. It can be worn with a dhoti or salwar as well. Groom’s may even choose kurta pyjamas or suits as their wedding attire. Sherwani is mostly worn by groom’s in North India and Punjab. Sherwani’s come in different colors but traditionally off-white was the only color preferred. Darker shades are also chosen these days.
