An Indian wedding brings with it a basket full of customs, rituals and traditions that are mandatory to be followed. Despite the fact that these customs and rituals have been remolded in recent time still the raw Indian values and beliefs associated with it haven’t changed.

India is land of diversity providing shelter to many religions, cultures, traditions and belief. This rich blend of culture makes it more colorful. Weddings in India celebrate the union of two individuals tying the nuptial knot to share life together. Indian weddings are known for their grand and elaborate wedding rituals. The vast Indian culture and ritual has made Indian weddings popular among the people all around the globe.

In India it is believed that when a girl marries a boy she binds two families together. In olden days, marriages used to be arranged by parents and the elder members of the family. The bride and the groom were not asked for their opinion. Irrespective of the couple’s personal reviews they had to accept their families decision. However as time passed by there has been considerable change in the way people look at weddings. Today, couples are allowed to express their views and ideas freely. They get a chance to meet and know each other well. This has resulted in many inter caste weddings in India.

Indian marriages include Arrange Marriage, Inter Caste Marriage, Court Marriage, Arrange-Love Marriage, Love-Arrange Marriage and Love Marriage. Arrange Marriages are arranged by the elders and parents of the bride and the groom in the old and traditional style but in some cases the opinion of the couple is taken into consideration. In Love Marriage, the couples first falls in love and then choose to marry one another. Parent’s opinion also comes into picture.

Love–Arrange marriage is the one where a couple falls in love and then choose to get married in the traditional arrange wedding style with the approval of their parents. Arranged-Love marriages are completely opposite of it. In this case, an individual marries his/her partner chosen by their parents and eventually fall in love with  course of time.

Today we witness many couples choosing inter-caste and court weddings as their option. These styles of weddings are relatively new to the Indian society but it has been accepted with open arms and has now become a part of Indian weddings. Inter-caste marriages simply meaning choosing your life partner who belongs to a different religion and caste. An inter-caste wedding comes under the category of love marriages. For those who like keeping their marriage a private affair, court marriages are the best option. A Court marriage is a simple way of getting married and involves a short procedure where the bride and the groom just sign the legal papers.

In India, love, inter caste ad court marriages are relatively new to the Indian society. In earlier times, only arranged marriages were prevalent. However, with changing time, people have adapted and accepted new ways of getting married.
